My Photo Editing Process

Whenever someone books a shoot with me, one of the first questions I get asked is, “Do you edit your images?”

The short answer: yes! But there’s a bit more to it than that.

I’m a big believer in capturing as much magic as possible in-camera. Good lighting, posing, and composition go a long way in creating beautiful, true-to-life photos. But post-processing (a.k.a. editing) is where I add those final touches that make each image feel like mine.

Here’s what my typical editing process looks like:

1. Perfecting the Tone and Mood

I love playing with the color and tone of each image to achieve that signature, moody finish you see throughout my portfolio. This might mean slightly deepening shadows, enhancing warmth, or adjusting contrast to give photos that rich feel.

2. Cleaning Up the Background

Little distractions can easily pull the eye away from the subject. During editing, I’ll remove things like outlets, cords, or stray items in the background — anything that doesn’t add to the final composition. I also tidy up small details like loose threads or minor fabric imperfections in lingerie or clothing.

3. Softening the Skin (While Keeping It Real)

Cameras pick up a lot more texture than our eyes do in real life. My goal is to soften the skin naturally while maintaining its true texture, so skin still looks like skin, just with a smoother, more flattering finish.

4. Removing Temporary Marks

Anything that isn’t permanent, like acne, bruises, or small scratches, is always removed. I want my clients to look and feel their best without being distracted by things that would fade naturally in a few days anyway.

5. Client Preference on Permanent Features

When it comes to scars, tattoos, birthmarks, or stretch marks — it’s completely up to my clients. Everyone has their own comfort level with what they want to showcase or minimize. Some prefer to have these details softened or removed entirely, while others want to leave them completely untouched as part of their story.

At the end of the day, my editing style is all about enhancing what’s already there. My goal is for you to look at your photos and see yourself, just in the best light possible.
