What Props Should I Bring to My Boudoir Session?

June 21, 2023

Now that you’ve booked your boudoir photography session, it’s time to think and what you’re going to wear and what you’re going to bring to your boudoir session. As you work through your inspiration and starting selecting pieces, you might have trouble narrowing these items down but you have time, so don’t stress! I always recommend starting with your lingerie and any other clothing pieces you want to incorporate into your shoot and then select your accessories and props to match.

If you’re not sure what kinds of props you should bring, I have you covered!

Props are one of my favorite ways to give a boudoir session a little extra drama! I always recommend using them sparingly and like to remind my clients that you don’t have to have props in very shot. Aim for 1-2 props that you utilize throughout your session.

My favorite props to incorporate into boudoir sessions are ones that are more personal, this includes:

  • Your partner’s ties
  • Your own veil
  • Accessories for/from your wedding day
  • Wedding shoes
  • Cigarettes
  • Food/alcohol

Food and alcohol are fun to get messy with in my studio! Some of my favorites include cherries, strawberries, honey, whipped cream, champagne, wine, and whiskey. If there’s an alcoholic beverage you always drink or a favorite sweet dessert you and your partner enjoy, bring it!

Props & Accessories I Offer to Clients

When it comes to your boudoir session, you might want to utilize some fun accessories that you’re not ready to invest in, which is why I have a wide selection in my studio (I always bring these to all shoots, even travel cities).

A few that my clients love are:

  • Handcuffs
  • Collars
  • Veils
  • Whips
  • Crops
  • Spreader bars
  • Body chains
  • And more!

I also like to keep food props on hand so you don’t have to worry about them, but when traveling, these items are limited!
