Before Your Boudoir Shoot, I Need You to Know This

October 10, 2026

If you’ve been thinking about booking a boudoir session, chances are you’ve also come up with a few reasons why now might not feel like the right time. Maybe you want to lose a few pounds first, you don’t own the “right” lingerie, or the thought of posing in front of a camera makes you nervous. Maybe you’re simply waiting until you feel a little more confident in your own skin.

But before your boudoir shoot, I need you to know something: you don’t need to change or prepare yourself into a different version of you before you walk through the studio doors. There are no prerequisites for being photographed, and you don’t have to reach a certain point before you’re ready.

You just need to show up.

‍

You Don’t Need to Lose Weight

It can be so easy to tell yourself that you’ll finally book a boudoir session when you lose ten pounds, fit into a certain size, or feel differently about a particular part of your body. The problem is, there will almost always be another “when” waiting around the corner.

Boudoir isn’t about documenting some future version of yourself that you’ve decided is more worthy of being photographed. It’s about celebrating who you are and the body you have right now. You don’t need to reach a certain weight, size, or milestone before you deserve beautiful photographs of yourself. Your body doesn’t need to change before your session, and my job is to photograph you beautifully exactly as you are.

‍

You Don’t Need Perfect Lingerie

There’s no such thing as the perfect boudoir wardrobe, and you definitely don’t need to spend a fortune shopping for your session. While a beautiful lingerie set can absolutely be fun, it’s only one of so many options.

A favorite bodysuit, an oversized button-down, a cozy sweater, a simple tank, or even just a sheet can create equally beautiful images. What matters most is choosing pieces that feel comfortable, flattering, and true to you.

And if you open your closet and have absolutely no idea where to start, don’t worry. Styling guidance is part of the experience, and I’ll always help you narrow down your options and decide what will photograph best.

‍

You Don’t Need to Know How to Pose

One of the things I hear most often before a session is, “I have no idea what I’m doing in front of a camera.” And that’s completely okay because you’re not supposed to!

You don’t need to practice poses in the mirror or spend hours scrolling Pinterest trying to figure out what to do with your hands. Guiding you through all of that is my job. Throughout your session, I’ll show you how to position your body, where to place your hands, where to look, and what to do next so you’re never left standing in front of the camera wondering what’s expected of you.

There’s no modeling experience required. All you have to do is follow my direction, relax into the experience, and let me take care of the rest.

‍

You Don’t Need to Look Like Anyone Else

It’s easy to look at boudoir photos online and start comparing yourself to the women you see, but your session isn’t about recreating someone else’s photographs or trying to fit into a certain idea of what boudoir is “supposed” to look like.

Every person who steps in front of my camera brings a different body, personality, story, and energy to their session, and that’s exactly what makes each one so special. Your photos should reflect you, not a version of someone else.

You don’t need someone else’s curves, hair, skin, wardrobe, or confidence to create beautiful photographs. The goal has never been to turn you into someone else. It’s to capture you in a way that feels authentic, beautiful, and entirely your own.

‍

You Don’t Need to Feel Confident Yet

This one might be the most important of all: you don’t have to feel confident before you book a boudoir session.

So many people assume they need to walk through the studio doors feeling completely fearless and comfortable in front of the camera, but that’s rarely how it works. Being nervous is normal. Feeling a little vulnerable is normal. Even wondering what you’ve gotten yourself into when the day finally arrives is normal.

Confidence doesn’t have to be the prerequisite for a boudoir session. Sometimes, it’s something you discover throughout the experience. You can arrive nervous, take a little time to settle in, and tell me exactly what you’re worried about. I’ll meet you wherever you are and guide you from there.

‍

You Just Need to Show Up

At the end of the day, you don’t need to lose weight, find the perfect lingerie, learn how to pose, look like anyone else, or wait until you magically wake up feeling completely confident.

You just need to show up as yourself.

From there, I’ll guide you through the entire experience and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way. Because a boudoir session isn’t about becoming a version of yourself that’s finally worthy of being photographed.

You already are.

Sometimes, you just need the photographs to remind you.

If you’ve been waiting for the “right” time to book your boudoir session, consider this your reminder that you don’t need to wait until you feel completely ready. Come exactly as you are, and we’ll take it from there.
